Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Dean in the Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Lethbridge College, the Sustainable Development Goals Ambassador will build awareness of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals on the campus, helping to establish a sustainability-focused committee/working group. The Ambassador will help identify SDG-related initiatives at Lethbridge College and opportunities to take additional action. There will be a special focus on sustainable agriculture through collaboration with the applied research office; and synergy with the college's active work in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Wellness, and Indigenous Services. The Ambassador will gain many skills through this internship, including by not limited to: leadership, event planning, promotions, communication, collaboration, design thinking, research, data management, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders across the campus to build awareness of the SDGs and strengthen relationships
• Assist with the establishment of a college-wide sustainability committee and/or working group(s)
• Plan and coordinate SDG-awareness events (e.g., webinars, speaker series)
• Assist with the creation of resources that will raise awareness and increase understanding of the SDGs
• Utilize social media to share information about the SDGs and related events

Knowledge and Skills

• Interest in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable, and collaborative with an innovative/entrepreneurial mindset
• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal, including a high comfort level with public speaking
• Ability to work independently to plan and execute events
• Willingness to learn
• Must be able to work outside standard business hours and in in-person and virtual environments
• Eligible to work in Canada

Education Required

Current post-secondary student at a Canadian college or institute or recent graduate
