Job Description
The Partner Relations Coordinator – East Coast is responsible for the management and growth of strategic partner relationships in Eastern Canada and the US and increases exposure of the Ocean Wise Seafood (OWS) program by acting as a spokesperson in traditional and social media, as well as at industry and consumer events.
Reporting to the Partner Relations Manager and working closely with the Partner Relations Specialist – Eastern Canada, the Partner Relations Coordinator – East Coast will be the primary resource for OWS partners in Eastern Canada/USA. The successful candidate will be flexible, bilingual (French/English), organized, detail-oriented, able to speak easily about program operations and industry topics in general, lead on a variety of projects, and have a good knowledge of sustainable seafood programs and how businesses in the seafood supply chain operate.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supports program growth and expands awareness of the OWS program in Eastern Canada and the Eastern Seaboard, focusing on Quebec and the US, and engaging new partners by:
• Seeking out new partnerships and replies to all partner inquiries and requests.
• Engaging with current partners to provide support and maximize the partnership potential via collaborations, events, promotions, etc.
• Sharing staff training and resources for local partners (new and current) and providing input into the creation of informational or educational seafood materials, as needed.
• Staying up to date on Seafood Watch recommendations and communicating seafood updates
• Maintaining a solid understanding of the sustainable seafood sector and the issues facing it, both from an economic and ecological perspective
• Updates managers and team mates on partner status, information and growth, as appropriate
• Identifying trends and risks in the sustainable seafood sector for Eastern Canada/USA and beyond, then providing recommendations and solutions on adapting to each scenario based on data, trends and experience.
• Conducting and updating seafood audits for partner portfolio based on current OWS recommendations.
• Reporting and approving branding use on OWS recommended products.
• Managing international partners, as required.
Increases exposure of OWS and raise awareness via traditional and social media by:
• Working with the Communications team to ensure OWS partner base is well represented through Ocean Wise’s public communications and that content is accurate.
• Acting as a spokesperson for OWS on radio, in written media, or television interviews.
• Translating partner communications and assets into French.
Acts as a key spokesperson, coordinator and organizer at OWS events and 3rd party events in Eastern Canada by:
• Identifying opportunities for event collaboration or participation that will feed into growth and increased presence in the region.
• Representing OWS at various networking, industry, community and partner events.
• Promoting OWS program membership by engaging the public at industry events in Eastern Canada.
• Educating industry and consumers with program or sustainable seafood-related presentations and talks at conferences, workshops, cooking demos, etc.
• Assisting with the planning and execution of signature OWS-branded events.
• Collaborating with NGOs and other community partners on third-party events.
• Preparing talking points, resources, logistics and general support for OWS Chef Ambassadors or other keynotes representing OWS at public or industry events in the region.
Supports the administration of OWS by:
• Contributing to the OWS strategy and work plan, both as designated but also in areas of interest and expertise.
• Managing and maintaining partner database on Salesforce, ensuring records are detailed, accurate and current.
• Keeping track of partner conversations and engagement.
• Keeping track and reporting out on a variety of program impact metrics (i.e., events, partners, publications, etc.).
• Coordinating timely delivery of invoices and collection of data on fee payments from partners and ensuring payment through follow-ups.
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive working relationships.
• Assisting with document creation, report writing, contract management, presentations and support materials as required for day-to-day operation of the OWS program or requested by Partner Relations Manager.
• Providing support towards achieving collective goals and objectives.

Knowledge and Skills
• Bilingual in French and English
• Positive and persuasive communication skills (verbal/written).
• Leadership skills and proven initiative.
• Strong interest in and an understanding of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
• Demonstrated experience creating professional reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Ability to remain calm and flexible to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Understanding of enterprising non-profits, combining business marketing skills with a passion for making positive change.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task, with keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of software such as Salesforce, Canva, WordFly, WordPress, and active use of social media is an asset.
• Active demonstration and passion for the organization’s values, code of conduct, and mission.
Education Required
(1) Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, environmental sciences, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. (2) A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar capacity. (3) Strong background in customer service and successful partnership brokering.
