Job Description:
Reporting to the General Manager of the Centre for Climate Change Management, the Research Fellow will conduct research and analysis on the ethical use of AI for climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting research on the use of AI for mitigating and adapting to climate change, with the ultimate goal of publishing 2-3 white papers that demonstrate thought leadership and cutting edge analysis for our partners in Canadian industry, clean tech and government.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a strategic analyst and advisor to project sponsors and partners, this includes building and maintaining professional and productive relationships
Project coordination, including stakeholder management and communication, project design, coordination, and execution of deliverables
Perform technical evaluations, thorough research, and conduct in-depth analysis
Write reports for, and present results to, multiple audiences
Solicit feedback through meaningfully facilitated workshops with stakeholders and experts
Provide support for event coordination, as needed, to present research
Provide weekly updates to the General Manager, and engaging in thoughtful conversations to solicit feedback and support for projects
Support Centre for Climate Change Management staff with additional projects as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive knowledge, experience and interest in using AI
Knowledge of key climate change and energy system concepts
Basic understanding of principles and policies related to the carbon economy (e.g., carbon taxes, carbon pricing)
Experience in project coordination from project scoping to final deliverables
Experience in technical writing, preparing report briefs and presentations
Knowledge and familiarity of the Ontario energy sector is considered an asset
Previous experience in applied research is considered an asset
